The Naperville Police Department is putting out a casting call for anyone who can lip sync the chorus from Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now.”

On July 26, Thomas Kammerer, a Naperville police commander who left this spring to become the Princeton police chief, challenged his former employer and co-workers to join the growing list of police and fire departments across the United States that have produced a lip-synched music video.

The Princeton department performed New Kids On The Block’s “You Got It (The Right Stuff)” after being called out by the Chillicothe Police Department.

Not to be outdone, Naperville police is answering the challenge by performing a compilation of songs for their video.

And in epic form, the department plans to include a cast of thousands, or at least whoever shows up for the final shoot at 6 p.m. Monday on Rotary Hill along Aurora Avenue in Naperville.

Naperville police spokesperson Kelley Munch said everyone is encouraged to bring signs in support of the police or they can just stop by ready to lip sync.

“We have no way of knowing how many people will show up,” Munch said. “We’re hoping for a big crowd, but we’ll see.”

Naperville police turned to the city’s television station, NCTV17, for assistance in producing their video.

Munch said filming started Thursday at the police station and will conclude Monday. She said the goal is to have the video edited and ready to be posted by the end of the week.
