The Cubs have a one-game lead over the Brewers in the National League Central with two games left, thanks to their 8-4 victory over the Cardinals on Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field. Their magic number to win the division is two.
The Brewers defeated the Tigers 6-5 on Friday night in Milwaukee.
The Rockies, who entered the night one game ahead of the Dodgers in the NL West, clinched a playoff spot by beating the Nationals 5-2 for their eighth straight victory. The Dodgers won, too, and are a game behind in the West and lead the Cardinals by two games in the wild-card race.
