Name: Anthony King
Year in school: Senior
School: Nazareth
Sport: Boys golf
Best game: King weathered incredibly difficult playing conditions to finish in the top 10 at the Class 2A state meet at The Den at Fox Creek Golf Course in Bloomington. After snow forced the IHSA to shorten the tournament to 18 holes, King fired a 75 and tied for seventh place. He had the low score as the Roadrunners placed fourth as a team in 2A.

Name: Mac McClear
Year in school: Senior
School: Hinsdale Central
Sport: Boys golf
Best game: On a team of talented golfers, McClear was the very best at the Class 3A state meet in Bloomington. He shot an even-par 72 at The Den at Fox Creek Golf Course to tie for fifth place in the weather-shortened tournament. McClear had three birdies and three bogeys as the Red Devils won the state title for the seventh year in a row.
Quote: “My coach came up to me and said, ‘You have to make par for us to win,’ and I just tried to keep my tee shot inbounds, straighten up the greens and two-putt for par,” McClear said. “I wasn’t too nervous. In those situations, I try and slow things down, close my eyes and visualize what I want to do.”
