Protect the ducks
I recently read in with interest the front-page article about the family of mother duck and her babies at Woodland schools. Thanks to all whom were involved from the start to finish. On several occasions, I have watched a mother duck make a nest, lay eggs and protect the eggs for 28 days until they hatched. All the while fighting the forces of nature — raccoons, skunks, possum and man. After they hatch, mom takes them to the water where nature again takes its toll of her ducklings, large fish, snapping turtles, mink and man on wave runners, fast boats, hawks, owls. As we watch the babies grow, we enjoy watching them following the boats going down the channel and the laughter of the children throwing treats and learning things about nature. You do not learn this in school. Next comes the fall and the few so-called duck hunters take to their boats, decoys in hand and hunt along the railroad tracks in the Route 12 bridges in Fox Lake on Nippersink Lake within shooting distance from Fox Lake Lakefront Park. I wonder if they get a thrill shooting the young birds that were raised in our backyard, not in their normal nesting ground in the north. Last but not least, I take my family to the park in the summer and it is beautiful, but not in the fall. We were sitting in the shelter and ran to our cars as the hunters shot at the ducks or geese, and the heavy BB shots rattled off of the shelter and table we were sitting at. Where are the police? It is certainly a safety issue that the shotgun shells shoot steel BBs that go 1,500 feet a second. Fox Lake police or game wardens, please make our park safe.
Same reason
To the caller who says why do people keep praising Tiger Woods as a hero for his past violence that he has done to his family: We do that for the same reason that we elected a president who’s a known philanderer, a liar, a cheat, a thief and someone who grabs women by their personal parts. That is why.
My bet
You can’t put a casino down by the lakefront in Waukegan because, as soon as they start digging, they hit polluted dirt. And not only do they have to dispose of the dirt in a special way, then the bleeding-heart liberals will come in and make them clean it all up. So 20 years later and a billion dollars, we’ll have nice clean sand down on the beach and then we can build something down there. You people have got to wake up to the facts. If you want to build something, you’ve got to overlook some of the issues.

STDs used to mean, stop sexually transmitted diseases. Now it means: stop the Democratic socialists. That should be a part of the Republican national reelection committee’s campaign. Label the Democrats with STDs, because that’s basically what they are. Everything they touch they infect. Here’s another Democratic moniker for you, NSFU — No socialism for us.
Beware of my wrath
I can’t scream loud enough to tell people they need to contact their city aldermen, code enforcement and the mayor to get this city back in shape. If you’ve got weak links in the system, you’ve got to get rid of them. Maybe the next time, I’ll end up going to City Council, and you’re going to see the wrath. But this city does nothing to clean up. We’re just as bad as Chicago.
Get it straight
This is to the brain-dead person who keeps calling in and saying the tariffs don’t count. The tariffs count. We’re paying the tariffs. It is a tax, I’m telling you. The Chinese don’t ship that junk over here and let it sit at a port, and they don’t bring their prices down. Check any economic book or anyone you want with half a brain and they’ll tell you a tariff is the same thing as a tax and the people here are paying it, not the Chinese. Get it straight.
GOP for me
People talk about Trump. Not that I’m a Trump lover, but I see the House of Representatives not letting go and moving on to the sanity of this country. Trump is not the only one who has committed crimes within the government. Yeah, I’m holding onto Hillary. She also has committed several violations and the House of Representatives has refused to acknowledge it. And I’m pretty sure the Obamas also have committed the same violations. Why can we not as a country come together and move forward instead of using citizens’ funds for their own personal gains. Let’s move forward. I myself will never, ever, ever be part of the Democratic Party.
Rim shot
I just wanted to say I was in downtown Chicago the other day and a big black, long stretch limousine pulled up alongside of me and the back window went down and I looked back and low and behold it was our new Gov. Pritzker and he said to me, “Hey, how can I get to 290?” And I said to him,” You can start by losing 50 pounds.”
