Heidi Schreck’s “What the Constitution Means to Me,” a one-woman show about the author-performer’s personal journey to progressive political consciousness, will play an extended run in Chicago as part of its upcoming national tour.

Presented by Broadway in Chicago, “What the Constitution Means to Me” will play in the aptly intimate setting of the Broadway Playhouse from March 4 through April 12, 2020.

Schreck, who performs the piece on Broadway and will subsequently do so in Washington D.C., will not be appearing in Chicago. In a telephone interview Thursday, Schreck said that she had written the play with the intention that it could be performed by someone else: “I don’t think the power of the piece rests with me,” she said.

Casting for the tour has yet to be announced; more information at www.broadwayinchicago.com.
