Franklin School parents were notified Monday, Sept. 9, after a student reportedly found a knife in a restroom of the Park Ridge school.

Park Ridge Police Department Executive Officer Tom Gadomskisaid officers were contacted after a student found the knife on the sink in a boys’ restroom and informed a teacher.

In an email to parents, Principal Marybeth Whitney-DeLaMar described the object as a “pocketknife” and said no threats were ever made to students.

Gadomski said police described the knife as a “tool-type knife” with attachments on it. Investigators were working to determine if it may have been accidentally left behind by a school employee, he said.

Parents on Monday were reminded that any student caught bringing a knife to school can face disciplinary action.
