Two tractor-trailers crashed on the northbound Tri-State Tollway in Oak Brook early Thursday, which caused lengthy delays until all lanes reopened about 9:30 a.m.
The Illinois State Police and the Oak Brook Fire Department were called to the accident at I-294 and West Cermak Road around 3:10 a.m., according to Trooper Duane Chappell. Two people were taken to hospitals for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening, he said.
All lanes were open as of 9:30 a.m., Chappell said.
Earlier, in an email about four hours after the crash, Chappell said “recovery units” were still at the site, removing the trucks and debris from several lanes.
At 6:30 a.m., WGN-TV reported three lanes were closed and delays were starting to affect the Stevenson Expressway.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
