Due to circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, several authors as well as the creators of the musical “Dear Evan Hansen” have canceled appearances at Chicago-area bookstores. These cancellations include:

At Women & Children First, in Andersonville, all book groups and events are canceled through at least March 30.

At City Lit, in Logan Square:

March 13: Michael Zapata, author of “The Lost Book of Adana Moreau”

April 16: Donna Kornhaber, author of “Nightmares in the Dream Sanctuary”

At Anderson’s Bookshops (multiple locations):

March 15: Rebecca Serle, author of “In Five Years”

March 18: Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, creators of “Dear Evan Hansen”

March 22: Nick Bruel, author and illustrator of “Bad Kitty Joins the Team”

March 28: Rachel Vail, author of “Bad Best Friend”

At Unabridged Bookstore, in Lakeview:

March 30: Solomon Goldstein-Rose, author of “The 100% Solution: A Plan for Solving Climate Change”

Representatives from other area bookstores — including Barbara’s Bookstore — reported that they too were in the midst of updating their calendars and advised patrons to call ahead or check their websites for the most up-to-date information.
