The signs were not authorized by the Forest Preserve District of Cook County or the village, and the information included in the flyers is false, according to the village. The flyers state that the closures were a joint agreement of Western Springs, La Grange and La Grange Park, effective until May 22.

Both Salt Creek Trail and Bemis Woods are under the jurisdiction of the Forest Preserves District of Cook County, and are currently open for exercise and recreation, while adhering to social distancing guidelines.

The Forest Preserve District announced March 20 that all public restrooms would be closed through May 11.

The Go Ape Zip Line Treetop Adventure Course at Bemis Woods also remains closed until further notice.
