Quickly, the city of Gary took a bold step when they took the first step and risk of keeping their school doors closed for now in Northwest Indiana. Kudos to other schools that our continuing to do so. We all can sleep a little better.
The downtown park is filled, with little or no social distancing, to attend weekly concerts sponsored by the city of Valparaiso, but Valparaiso City Hall Meetings, rarely full, are conducted online only. Same city folks. Inconsistent policy. The concerts should have been canceled this summer.
It just crossed my mind that apple picking season is right around the corner and COVID-19 shows no sign of slowing down. I hope to God the city of Hobart does the right thing and puts the brakes on the seasonal fiasco that is County Line Orchard and the thousands of people who cram themselves into our city before it becomes a breeding ground for coronavirus. The best thing we can do is stop it before it starts and order it shut down now.
Doesn’t making me stop for a stopped school bus take away my freedom? Oh, wait … it is an inconvenience I must take to protect the lives of others. I get it now. Kind of like a mask.
Delta Airlines had to return to the gate after two passengers refused to keep a mask on. Delta Airlines has confirmed that more than 100 passengers have been banned for their refusal to wear masks. I would make sure that they pay all expenses for the inconvenience too.
In his tirade against Joe Biden, Trump failed to note that Biden is rumored to be against apple pie. Seriously, Trump has gone way around the bend.
I think that most parents want their children to go back to school, but not under these circumstances. When a large part of the day will be spent on health and safety, how much time gets spent on actual education? Teachers are professional educators, they are not trained to be health providers too.
I just wonder why President Trump sent those personally signed stimulus checks through the United States Postal Service, knowing that they are so unreliable, like he says? Did any 5 year old boys steal them out of mailboxes, while following the carriers? Did anyone find sacks of them sitting in a Post Office? Of course not, all stupid lies concocted by Trump to make people think it’s not safe to vote by mail.
Blaming the USPS for voter fraud is like blaming gun manufacturers for criminals obtaining guns.
We can’t ignore the fact that Trump put in place a Postmaster General who is slowing down the essential delivery of mail. He is hoping that will curtail the delivery of ballots. He can’t win unless he cheats.
Trump has bluffed his way through life. Bought his way through taking tests, bought his way out of legal consequences, and has never understood the idea of working for anything or getting your just rewards. If he loses this re-election, it might be very jarring for him.
Trump is terrified that he will be exposed as a loser, and not as wealthy as he has tried to portray himself to be. He is willing to dismantle the faith in our democracy and voting rights just to avoid that personal pain.
Why do some people find it easier to believe conspiracy theories than actual facts? When did this happen?
