Four people were hurt including two Chicago police officers who suffered head injuries during a collision at a South Side intersection on Friday afternoon.

The police car, which had its lights and sirens activated, was westbound on 83rd Street when it crashed into a car that was trying to turn left to go south on Rhodes Avenue about 4:35 p.m. in the city’s Gresham neighborhood, police said.

The left-turning car’s driver and passenger were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition while two officers who suffered head injuries were in serious condition at another hospital, police said.

It was not clear what call the police were on their way to.
