One person is dead and three others are injured after the driver of a Mitsubishi sedan lost control and hit a light pole while driving on Lake Shore Drive early Sunday, according to preliminary information from the Chicago police.
The crash occurred just before 4:30 a.m. in the 3000 block of South Lake Shore Drive, police said. Four people were inside the sedan, which was traveling southbound.
The male driver, who has not been identified, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
A female passenger, who also hasn’t been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Two other passengers, a 27-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man, were also taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition.
The crash is under investigation.
