A Carpentersville man has been charged with five felonies in connection with a loaded handgun police found in a car in which he was a passenger, the Kane County State’s Attorney Office said.
James T. Hill-Beasley, 25, of block of Oxford Road, was arrested about 9 p.m. Sept. 7 during a traffic violation stop near West Chicago Street and North Clifton Avenue in Elgin, a state’s attorney’s office news release said.
“When police searched the vehicle, they found a loaded Glock handgun on the floor of the car where Hill-Beasley was sitting,” the release said. “Hill-Beasley is not eligible to possess a gun or a Firearm Owners Identification.”
He was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm without a FOID, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon without a concealed carry license and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon without a FOID.
Hill-Beasley’s bail was set at $50,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 16.
