A large garage on Aurora’s East Side was destroyed in a structure fire Sunday afternoon, Aurora Fire Department officials said.
Firefighters responded to a fire in the 1100 block of McClure Road and found a 16-unit single-vehicle garage with heavy smoke showing in the rear of a multi-family residential complex, officials said in a news release.
Crews began attacking the fire while others deployed hose lines to protect the adjacent units, according to the release. Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to the garage and only minor damage was reported to two adjacent units, officials said.
Damage from the fire is estimated at $75,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to the release.
