Western Springs’ Halloween Hoopla this week has been redesigned to comply with the state’s stricter coronavirus rules.
Instead of groups of 50 gathering at Safety Village, outside the Western Springs Recreation Center, families are invited to drive by the Recreation Center, on Walker Street, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday and pick up a goodie bag with treats and crafts.
Anyone who registered for the event, but cannot pick up their bag Wednesday, can send an email to Rita at rligeikis@wsprings.com.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker has determined COVID-19 infection rates and other health metrics in some counties, including Cook and other collar counties, have risen to a level that gatherings must be limited to 25 people and indoor dining is prohibited.
The Western Springs Park District is redesigning its Halloween Bash, scheduled for Oct. 31 in Spring Rock Park, to comply with the stricter guidelines. The event has not been cancelled, the park district said.
