An Aurora man was sentenced to nine years in prison for dealing heroin, officials said.

Jose A. Pabon, 51, of the 1400 block of South Glen Circle, was sentenced last week after he was convicted in September of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and possession of heroin, court records show.

Prosecutors alleged that Kane County detectives and Drug Enforcement Agency agents were investigating suspected drug sales on Nov. 7, 2016. Officials reported seeing Pabon sell .9 grams of heroin in a business parking lot in the 600 block of Montgomery Road in Montgomery, according to a news release from the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.

After Pabon drove away, officers followed and stopped him, finding 4.2 grams of heroin, officials said.

Pabon must serve at least half the sentence before he is eligible for probation. He was subject to extended-term sentencing because of his criminal history, which includes convictions for multiple drug and gun offenses, officials said. He received credit for 70 days he spent in the Kane County jail.
