Indiana Dunes National Park implements mask requirement

In support of President Biden’s Executive Order on Protecting the Federal Workforce and Requiring Mask-Wearing, the National Park Service (NPS) has implemented a mask requirement for employees, visitors, partners and contractors. Masks are now required in all park buildings and facilities, including the Dorothy Buell Memorial Visitor Center, the Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education and the pavilion at the Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk. Masks are also required on NPS-managed lands when physical distancing cannot be maintained, including on narrow or busy trails, overlooks and in historic homes. More information is at 219-395-1882.

Staying Scam Safe

Purdue Extension-Lake County will host Staying Scam Safe, a virtual program, at 2 p.m. Monday. The program will cover common types of scams, how to protect your personal information, and how to report a scam or fraud. Register at https://tinyurl.com/StayScamSafe. Miller Beach Arts hosts ‘Unapologetically Noir’

Miller Beach Arts and Creative District is hosting Tyrell Anderson’s exhibit “Unapologetically Noir” exhibit through March 14 at the Marshall J. Gardner Center for the Arts, 540 Lake St., Gary. Gallery hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 to 4 p.m. Sundays. Featuring more than 30 photographs of black men and women from all walks of life, Anderson showcases diverse physical and mental characteristics of the participants. He will be on site from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday to photograph anyone who wants to be a part of the Unapologetically Noir series online. CURE offers online sessions for learners of all ages

Indiana University Northwest’s Center for Urban and Regional Excellence (CURE) will offer two remote learning opportunities for those age 55 and older through its Senior University program. Budgeting Basics will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Enrollment deadline is Noon Monday. Introduction to Public Speaking will be offered from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 25. Training for commercial lawn, ornamental care professionals

Purdue Extension is offering four online workshops for those in the commercial Turf and Horticulture Ornamental industry in March and August. The turf-focused presentations are March 4 and Aug. 5 and offer points towards Category 3B pesticide license, while the ornamental-focused presentations will be March 11 and Aug. 12 and offer points for category 3a. All workshops will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. EST or 8 to10 a.m. CST over a virtual platform. Each workshop costs $15.
