Reports by investigators into the Capitol hill riots now confirm that at least 57 of the participants have been identified as current elected Republican government officials, ranging from state senators down to various other state and local office holders. Fifty-seven so far. And they believe there will be more as the investigation proceeds. Trump has gone down the rabbit hole and pulled the Republican party right in after him.

The courage of Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger to vote the impeachment of Donald Trump has been widely admired by the press and many Americans, but in a written letter 11 relatives have now “disowned” him. They call him a disgrace and embarrassment to the family and the Christian faith for “joining the devil’s army” and “disappointing” even God. Since when do Christians call evil, good, and good, evil?

Rush Limbaugh just one year ago: “Now I want to tell you the truth about the coronavirus. Yeah, I’m dead right on this. The coronavirus is the common cold, folks.” It was an effort of Democrats, he suggested, to weaponize it to bring down Donald Trump. Millions of Limbaugh’s followers promptly bought into it and lowered their guard. This week the U.S. passes one million dead. The timing is ironic. It’s a clear blemish on the legacy of Rush Limbaugh the eulogies omit.

Who knew, besides Todd Rokita, that being Attorney General of Indiana is considered a part-time job? Actually, there is no need to work full-time when all you have to do is what Donald Trump and the Republican party tell you to do.

If I ran one of the bars or restaurants in downtown Hobart, or especially the Art Theatre, I’d be hopping mad at our city leaders. The Star Theater closing has brought so many acts and new life to entertainment in Hobart, and the Art is acting to help keep all those struggling businesses afloat. I sure wish our mayor and city council could see what they have and try to grow and protect that instead of screwing over locally-owned businesses for the sake of national chains along the U.S. 30 corridor who continue absolutely nothing to our community.

President Biden sent generators, fuel, water, wool and cotton blankets and food to Texas. Oh no, just one more reason for the Republicans to hate him.

In the impeachment of President Nixon, a Republican Indiana U.S. Representative infamously said, “don’t confuse me with the facts”. He was rightfully ridiculed nationwide. Now Indiana U.S. Senators Mike Braun and Todd Young are following Republican tradition refusing to see facts. For crying out loud, they sawTrump on TV inciting his mob to overturn a valid election, but let him walk free. If they won’t defend our Constitution, they need to step down.

No Republicans voted for Biden’s rescue package because hey, people might waste it on food, rent, staying alive, or something dumb like that.

Various polls show that 68 to 78% of the country is supporting Biden’s $1.9 trillion relief package. This should be an easy vote for Congress. It won’t be because many of our legislators aren’t keeping their promise to follow the will of the people. For various reasons they believe that bipartisanship is weakness. If we really want to change the culture in Congress, we must send a clear message in 2022. We should ask each candidate what is more important to you bipartisanship and compromise or straight party line voting? Or, are you going to listen to the people or the ‘Speaker’?

Both Indiana Senators are saying that Trump is being prosecuted the wrong way but neither is saying he is not guilty. They just cannot admit that Trump did something wrong so they condemn the process to try and save their political futures.

Sen. Lindsey Graham is desperate to find issues with the Biden-Harris administration. He has implied that Republicans could start impeachment proceedings against Harris. Everyone knows this is Lindsey’s way of sending a coded message to Trump’s base. Lindsey, you will never recruit women, especially minority women, with this approach!

Gerrymandering districts should not prevent Hoosiers from getting rid of Braun & Young. They’re BOTH terrible. Let’s get to work !

Some Republican senators who voted to acquit Trump have now admitted that they did so out of fear for their safety and the safety of their family members if they didn’t. Some others Republicans who have either voted against Trump or uttered the slightest criticism are even going so far as to acquire body armor. Anybody who thinks that this is just a silly overreaction should go back and look again at the footage of Trump’s legions of thugs and goons attacking the Capitol and beating Capitol police officers with baseball bats and flagpoles.
