Authorities are asking for the public’s help to identify a man believed to have recently robbed a TCF Bank branch located inside a grocery store in Arlington Heights.
Arlington Heights police responded about 3:30 p.m. April 7 to TCF Bank inside Jewel-Osco grocery store, at 1860 S. Arlington Heights Rd. in Arlington Heights, on a call of a robbery there, according to an Arlington Heights Police Department news release.
The FBI is leading the investigation into the incident, in partnership with local police, authorities explained.
“The suspect verbally demanded money from a teller and implied that he had a weapon,” Siobhan Johnson, spokeswoman for the Chicago field office of the FBI, told Pioneer Press.
Johnson said there were no reported injuries, and she declined to disclose how much money may have been stolen.
As of Monday, the alleged robber is still at large, Johnson said.
Authorities have released surveillance images said to be from the robbery, and they are asking the public to help identify the man in them.
According to the police department news release, the alleged thief pictured is described as a white man in his 40s or 50s, about 5’8” tall weighing about 160 pounds.
“He was wearing a black and white colored baseball hat with writing “COMMAND”, a gray colored gaiter face mask, a green colored long sleeve t-shirt with writing “BAD & COUGIE”, khaki cargo shorts, gray colored socks, and black colored shoes,” authorities wrote in the release. And he “appeared to have a brace or bandage around his left leg.”
The release states that the man fled the scene in a 2018 to 2020 Toyota Camry SE that did not have a rear license plate.
The alleged bank robber was last seen traveling westbound in the vehicle on Golf Road from Algonquin Road, the release states.
