Starting in 2003, Patrick McQueeny served 18 years as Geneva’s city treasurer before deciding not to seek another term in office. The city treasurer serves on the police and fire pension boards. The city treasurer receives $2,000 in annual compensation, which is paid on a monthly basis. The term for this unfilled position runs through May 5, 2025.
Geneva residents interested in serving as city treasurer should submit an application along with a letter of interest to Mayor Kevin Burns, City of Geneva, 22 S. First St., Geneva, IL 60134; Attn: City Treasurer Vacancy. The deadline to apply is June 10.
The new city treasurer will be appointed by Burns with the advice and consent of the City Council.
