Two people were shot near the Museum of Science and Industry on Wednesday evening, officials said.

A 23-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were in a vehicle going east on 57th Street when they were shot about 9:15 p.m. in the 1700 block of East 57th Street, Chicago police said.

The Chicago Fire Department transported two gunshot victims about 9:15 p.m. from East 57th Street and South Everett Avenue, Chicago fire Deputy District Chief Curtis Hudson said.

The 26-year-old man was shot in the chest, shoulder and hand and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, officials said.

The 23-year-old woman was shot in the right calf and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition, officials said.

No arrests have been made, police said. The shooting is under investigation.
