Speak Out is a reader-generated column of opinions. If you see something you disagree with or think is incorrect, call us at 312-222-2460 or email ksorensen@tribpub.com. Please include “speak out” in the subject line.

Party-throwers, please be considerate: Congratulations to all of the graduates. It’s really has been a challenging year. For the parents who are celebrating and giving parties in their house or back yards, the only think I ask if to be considerate of others. Turn down the loud music and noise after a given time. Have a good time, but think of others that are not in the party, laughing and dancing with the group.

Israel violating minorities’ rights: Where does the U.S. get off perpetually condemning Russia, China and North Korea for civil rights violations when the regime in Israel, one of its chief allies, shows such little regard for its minority people?

These elephants do forget: Contrary to the popular belief that elephants never forget, members of the Republican Party are now recalling the events of Jan. 6 as a patriotic celebration.

More postal changes: Now I’m hearing that Louis DeJoy, the postmaster general appointed by the previous president to mess with our postal system, is going to be messing with it even further. He wants even more delays, He wants to ship all mail by rail instead of using airplanes, he wants to close certain post offices around the country. What is wrong with this man? We pay taxes. Apparently Biden cannot get rid of him. I don’t know why the man is still in office.

College cost reimbursement: President Biden wants free college for everyone. I already paid $125,000 for four years at Purdue for my son, a truly rewarding investment by the way. Does that mean I can expect a check from Biden for the $125,000 I already spent? Free college for all means the people that already paid should be reimbursed, otherwise it is not free for all. Where do I send the bill?

No surprise here: Should it really come as a big surprise that Republican leadership in congress wants no part of a Jan. 6 investigation? After all, it wasn’t rowdy left wingers who were calling for Pelosi’s head on that fateful day.

Limit cyber access: Any system or device that is either critical to our needs or can cause harm if it malfunctions or is mis-operated simply should not be cyber accessible, except to read or monitor it. All control of these facilities should only be possible by qualified people from secure control rooms that are on site with the equipment or are connected by secure networks to which outsiders physically cannot gain access. Period.

Lightfoot needs to go: Why is Lori Lightfoot still mayor of Chicago given she can’t seem to stop the mayhem in Chicago? It just keeps getting worse. She should resign and get someone in her place who can resolve all this chaos.

D.C.’s voters disenfranchised: The current situation of the District of Columbia may represent the longest running injustice in the history of the United States, dating as it does from the ratification of the Constitution in 1787 to the present day. District of Columbia consists of 712,000 disenfranchised Americans who are taxed without representation. The residents of the district deserve to have the same rights all the rest of us Americans have, and the sooner the better. Justice delayed is justice denied.

More than on ‘truth’: A Speak Out commenter quoted Marvin Gaye and talked about bringing peace and love and all those things. But then they contradicted themselves by saying there are people that don’t believe the truth. What makes you think what you believe is the truth? If you do some more research and you follow the news as it’s happening, I’m going to guarantee you there’s more truth than just your truth.
