A man driving in the North Park neighborhood was shot by someone in another car and was able to make it to a nearby gas station before calling for help early Friday, police said.

The man, 52, was shot in the 5500 block of North Kimball Avenue about 5 a.m. Friday. The attacker, who was in a gray sedan with tinted windows, possibly a Mercedes, then drove off in an unknown direction, police said in a media notification.

The man was able to reach a gas station at Foster and Kimball avenues and call 911 after he was shot, according to police.

He suffered a gunshot wound to the upper back and was taken to Amita Health St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, police said. His condition was not released.
