Police are investigating fatal shootings on the Dan Ryan Expressway and in the Park Manor neighborhood that left two men dead Friday as well as the fatal stabbing of a man in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.
Illinois State Police responded to the shooting on the northbound Dan Ryan Expressway near 33rd Street about 6:49 p.m., according to the state police’s Chicago district. One man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, and another man sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
He was identified as Bernard Stratton, 29, of the 8200 block of South Muskegon Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
About two hours earlier, a 27-year-old man and a man whose age was unknown to police were near the front of the home in the 6900 block of South Vernon Avenue in the Park Manor neighborhood about 4:55 p.m. when they were approached by two unknown men who fired shots, according to Chicago police.

The 27-year-old man was struck in the head and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The other man was struck to the abdomen and also taken to the hospital, where he was reported in critical condition.
Also Friday, a man was fatally stabbed in the 200 block of North Karlov Avenue in the West Garfield Park neighborhood about 12:45 p.m., police said. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A 4-year-old girl was also injured Friday in a shooting on the 4000 block of West Washington Boulevard in West Garfield Park about 7:17 p.m. The girl and a 19-year-old man were near a sidewalk when they heard gunshots, police said. The girl was hit in the foot and taken to Stroger Hospital initially in good condition, but police were unsure of her current condition Friday night.
The 19-year-old man was hit in the abdomen and buttocks, and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.
Investigations into the shootings and stabbing are ongoing. No one was in custody as of Friday evening.
