Authorities have released the identity of a 16-year-old who drowned Saturday evening at Waukegan Municipal Beach.
Jesus Garcia of Park City was pronounced dead at Waukegan’s Vista East Medical Center, where he was taken Saturday night, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
The coroner’s office said first responders were dispatched to the beach at about 6:25 p.m. for a report of a drowning. Waukegan Fire Department and police personnel arrived to find Garcia had been removed from Lake Michigan, but he was unconscious and not breathing.
An autopsy conducted Monday resulted in drowning listed as the preliminary cause of death. The coroner’s office is continuing to investigate Garcia’s death.
