Police said a 26-year-old man driving a Chevrolet Malibu blew a red light in the Humboldt Park neighborhood early Saturday morning, hitting a Chevrolet Spark and critically injuring a 42-year-old man.

Shortly after 4:45 a.m., police said a Chevy Malibu was traveling west on Augusta Boulevard when the driver ran a red light and struck a Chevy Spark that was traveling south on Western Avenue.

The driver of the spark was taken in critical condition with head injuries to Stroger Hospital, police said.

The driver of the Malibu was taken in good condition to the same hospital with lacerations to the head. Police said citations were pending against him.
