Five months after it was officially announced, Amazon Fresh is finally opening its doors to shoppers in Morton Grove.

Amazon Spokeswoman Laura Hayes confirmed that the grocery store, located at 6931 W. Dempster St., will open Thursday, Nov. 11 at 7 a.m.

The store, which is located on the site of a former Dominick’s grocery in the village’s new Sawmill Station shopping and residential center at Dempster Street and Waukegan Road, will be the sixth Amazon Fresh to open in the Chicago area. Others are located in Schaumburg, Naperville, Oak Lawn and Bloomingdale, and a Westmont store opened last week.

It was back in early June that Amazon confirmed it was opening a Fresh store in Morton Grove.

The store will have what Amazon calls Just Walk Out technology, which gives customers the option to skip the checkout line. There will also be traditional staffed checkouts. The Westmont store was the first in Illinois to have the Just Walk Out technology, and Morton Grove will be the second.

A job advertisement for the Morton Grove store indicates it will include a kitchen with freshly-prepared items and traditional checkout lanes as well.
