Exhibitors invited to participate in Earth Day event
Porter County Recycling and Waste Reduction will host Earth Day 2022 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 30 at the Porter County Expo Center, 215 E. Division Road, Valparaiso. The event will feature entertainment, activities, workshops and contests. Booths are available for vendors and exhibitors that promote environmental awareness, provide environmental education or sell eco-friendly products or services. Tickets available for Steve Wozniak presentation at PNW
The 68th season of the Purdue University Northwest (PNW) Sinai Forum will host a program with tech icon Steve “The Woz” Wozniak from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 6 at Blue Chip Casino, Hotel and Spa’s Stardust Event Center, 777 Blue Chip Drive, Michigan City. We Are The Village, Inc. founder to launch podcast
We Are The Village, Inc. Founder/CEO Jaunesia Davis will launch her first podcast titled “Village Talk: A Podcast for AUsome Families.” The program, which is geared toward parents with Autistic children, will broadcast live on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube at 7 p.m. on Fridays beginning in February. Davis and guest co-hosts will interview those who experience Autism from various angles including families and representatives from organizations that work the autistic community. Davis established We Are The Village, Inc. after experiencing difficulty finding support and developmental services for her son in the Gary area. Her organization offers daycare and early learning for students with special needs. Country music group LANCO to perform in Hobart
Country music group LANCO is bringing their spring tour to Hobart for a performance at 7 p.m. on March 31 at the Art Theater, 230 Main St. Tickets are $35 each and are on sale now at HometownJams.com.
South Haven Fire Department hosting annual gala
The South Haven Fire Department will host its 17th Annual Firefighter’s Ball at 6 p.m. on March 26 at Duneland Falls Banquet and Meeting Center, 1100 Max Mochal Highway 149, Portage. The celebration will include dinner, a silent auction, a live DJ, free photo booth, premium bars and an award ceremony to honor members of the department for their outstanding achievements during the previous year as well as citizens who went above and beyond the call to support the department or their neighbors. Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased on Eventbrite by searching “17th Annual SHFD fireman’s ball.” The department also is accepting donations for the silent auction and sponsorships. Sponsorship packages are available and include: Chief’s Staff/Gold Package for $800 that includes six tickets to the ball, a full-page ad and a reserved table; Officer’s/Silver Package for $600 that includes four tickets to the ball and half-page ad in the program; Firefighter/Blue Package for $400 that includes two tickets to the ball and quarter-page ad in the program; Squad/Red, Green, Yellow or Black Package for $750 that includes 10 tickets donated to the firefighters, a full-page ad in the program and special recognition during awards ceremony; Lone Wolf/Green Package for $75 that includes one ticket donated to a firemen and special recognition during the awards ceremony.
