Kudos to the University of Illinois men’s basketball team on their Big 10 regular-season championship and selection as one of the nation’s top 64 teams in the NCAA Tournament. Despite discouraging lineup juggling injuries — the Andre Corbelo and Kofi Cockburn concussions and Trent Frazier’s eye infection — the Illini played hard for their fans across the state, always supporting each other as they compiled 23 victories. Thanks, team members and Coach Underwood! Go Illini!

After watching the NCAA games, there is only one coach who stands before all the other great coaches, John Wooden, UCLA. He had vision, wisdom, bench authority, respect. When John stood up to challenge a call, the referee knew he blew the call. Everybody loved John.

Our gracious first lady Dr. Jill Biden is hosting a White House luncheon for congressional spouses with one caveat. Despite the fact that fully vaccinated people can contract and spread COVID-19, unvaccinated attendees may not eat or drink and must maintain 6-foot separation from other attendees. When will this idiocy end? Or is it simply to exercise control over those who actually understand facts differently than an authoritarian government?

Lately, it seems that there is a push to redefine terminology that de-emphasizes status and emphasizes personal experience. I’ve seen person who is experiencing homelessness written in the newspaper. If a person is experiencing the experience of being homeless, then the person is a homeless person. If they had a home, then they wouldn’t be having the experience!

I believe our very own Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx should investigate the Chris Rock/Will Smith slapping incident at the Oscars. She has the right qualifications for this type of case. She deserves an award for worse prosecutor in a leading role.
