Meal boxes, wine-pairing dinner to help food pantry
Food for Greater Elgin, a community food pantry, is holding two Pallet to Pallet fundraising events this month.
Pre-ordered take-home food boxes will be ready to pick up from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, April 22, at Café Roma, 2175 Point Blvd., Elgin. Boxes put together by Elgin Public House will be available to pick up from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 22, at Food for Greater Elgin, 1553 Commerce Drive, Elgin.
Meal boxes are designed to feed two people, range in price from $125 to $145 and come with online cooking demonstrations. Each includes a $25 gift card from the respective restaurant.
For those who want to dine out, Chef Greg Shannon is hosting an in-person, limited seating, five-course wine pairing dinner from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Elgin Public House, 219 E. Chicago St., Elgin. Tickets for two people are $250.

Kane County holding rabies shot and microchip clinic
Kane County Animal Control will host a rabies shot and microchip animal clinic from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Kane County Animal Control, 4060 Keslinger Road, Geneva.
The clinic will be conducted drive-thru style, with pet owners remaining in their vehicles while staff and volunteers remove, examine and treat the animals.
A one-year rabies vaccine, with tag, is $22 for neutered pets and $40 for non-neutered pets. Seniors receive a discounted rate of $10. Microchips are available for $15. Cash, checks, VISA and MasterCard are accepted.

Mobile drivers’ service team coming to West Dundee
State Sen. Donald DeWitte, R-St. Charles, is hosting the Secretary of State’s mobile drivers’ services team visit from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at his district office at 641 S. 8th St. in West Dundee.
Services available will include driver’s license/state I.D. card renewal, replacement and corrections; free state IDs for seniors age 65 and older; license plate renewal stickers; oOrgan/tissue donor registration; voter registration and vision screenings.

Kane County SAO to hold panel discussion on child abuse
The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office is hosting an online panel discussion about reporting child abuse from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 14, via Facebook Live.
Taking part in the conversation will be Gloria Kelley, executive director of CASA Kane County; Deanna Oliver, assistant regional superintendent for the Kane County Regional Office of Education; Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser; and Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain.

Side Street Studio offering free kid summer classes
Registration is underway for free summer youth programs being held in June and July at Side Street Studio Arts, 151/2 Ziegler Court in Elgin.
Eight classes are being offered for students in any grade who attend District U-46 schools. Six classes are open to students at any grade level who attend any school within 10 miles of the Side Street Studio.
Classes range in length from two to three hours for two to five days.
