A Gary man faces several felony charges including rape and kidnapping after he allegedly attacked a woman he accused of taking his mini bottle of alcohol, documents state.
Kevin M. Rosolowski, Jr., 31, was charged Tuesday.
He is not in custody, ordered held initially without bail.
The woman told Hammond Police they were “arguing for several hours” on May 28 and 29 about the alcohol bottle he felt she threw away or hid, charges state.
Rosolowski pulled over by the Hammond Sanitation District on the 7700 block of Old Columbia Road and started yanking her by the hair, saying she was “lying,” documents state.
When she tried to get out of the car, he slapped her, records state. He beat her until she was able to leave and run down the block, charges state.
Rosolowski ran after her, tackling and continuing to beat her in public, the affidavit states. The woman convinced him to stop before someone called the police. He dragged the woman back to her car by her ankle threatening to kill her, charges allege.
The woman pleaded to let her stand up. Rosolowski grabbed her by her choker necklace, taking her back to the car. After she couldn’t find the bottle, he threatened to kill her again, saying if she tried to escape again, she “would not make it very far,” the affidavit states.
She screamed, but no one came up to help her, the woman said. Rosolowski opened the trunk and told her to get in. When she couldn’t fit with the stuff inside, he told her to get into the passenger seat, charges state.
The woman pleaded with him she didn’t have the alcohol and would “do whatever he asked”. Rosolowski bent her fingers back, then punched her with his palm.
When she said to go look in an alley near her house, Rosolowski sexually assaulted her in the car, documents allege.
He forced her to give up her phone password, accusing her of cheating. While he punched her, grabbed her neck, forcing her face into the gear shift, he crashed into two parked cars, charges allege.
The woman managed to escape the car. Rosolowski yelled at her to get inside, then tried to run her over before she managed to jump on the sidewalk. He fled the scene with the car leaking fluid, charges state.
Officers wrote the woman had bruises on both sides of her neck, face and back. She also had contusions and cuts on her throat, face, arms and hand.
Police followed the car fluid trail to the 1900 block of Crestwood Drive in Munster where they impounded it, documents state.
Rosolowski was charged with rape, a level 3 felony, kidnapping, two counts of criminal confinement, attempted domestic battery by means of a deadly weapon, all level 5 felonies, domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, intimidation, auto theft, all level 6 felonies, and two misdemeanor counts of leaving the scene of an accident.
A level 3 felony carries a possible penalty of 3 to 16 years in prison.
Court records show he has another pending felony case with charges including domestic battery, strangulation, criminal confinement and intimidation. An arrest warrant was issued Apr. 22.
