A 6-year-old girl and her mother were injured after falling out of a ride at the Friendship Festival in Palos Hills on Saturday night, according to the Palos Hills Police Department.

A ride called Spinner reportedly malfunctioned at approximately 8:30 p.m. at the festival in the 10900 block of 88th Avenue, which caused the girl and her 40-year-old mother to fall to the ground.

Paramedics transported mother and daughter to Advocate Christ Medical Center for treatment and they were released with minor injuries, police said.

The carnival ended Sunday night, and the incident was under investigation, police Chief Jeffrey Cucio said.
