Man who drove into gas station charged with DUI
A man was charged with driving under the influence early Sunday morning after plowing into a West Dundee gas station convenience store, police said.
The incident occurred about 3 a.m. at the Speedway station, 115 N. 8th St.
The Chevrolet HHR driven by Victor Jimenez-Moreno, 23, of Schaumburg, ended up on its side along the station’s north exterior wall, police said.
Jiminez-Moreno, who was not injured, was charged with driving under the influence and several traffic violations.
Garage, part of Sleepy Hollow house damaged by fire
The Rutland-Dundee Fire Protection District is investigating the cause of a Sunday afternoon garage fire that damaged the exterior of a home in Sleepy Hollow.
Firefighters called at 12:50 p.m. to the home on Elm Court, near Willow Lane, needed about 20 minutes to control the blaze, which fully engulfed the garage and damaged a storage area and the home’s vinyl siding and soffit, the release said.
The home’s occupants alerted to the situation by a neighbor were able to escape, but one needed treatment at the scene for a minor injury, the release said.

Mr. Myers to play East Dundee’s ‘Wine Down’ event
Mr. Myers will perform beach music at this week’s Wine Down Wednesday, set for 6 to 9 p.m. outside The Depot at 319 N. River St. in East Dundee.
Attendees are encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts and other tropical gear. Wine, beer and food will be available from the Anvil Club, food from DC Cobbs and desserts from Willow Cookie Company.
Guests should to bring lawn chairs as seating is limited. No outside alcoholic beverages are allowed.

The StingRays to perform at East Dundee’s Lions Park
A free concert featuring rockabilly band The StingRays will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Lions Park, 570 Penny Road in East Dundee.
Sponsored by the village of East Dundee and the Dundee Township Park District, the Dundee Lions Club will be selling snacks and beverages and a food truck will be on site.
Attendees should bring their own chairs or blankets.

Brew at the Zoo Saturday benefits Randall Oaks Zoo
Brew at the Zoo, a fundraiser to benefit the Randall Oaks Zoo in West Dundee, will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at the zoo.
Proceeds from the 21-and-older events pay for the zoo animals’ support and care.
The evening, being hosted by the Dundee Township Park District, will feature two beers each from Crystal Lake Brewing and Penrose Brewery, Revolution Brewing’s Anti-Hero IPA and Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy. There will also be wine, hard seltzer, cocktails, a food truck, raffles, live music, lawn games and zoo tours.
Tickets cost $15 for designated drivers, $25 for zoo members and $30 for nonmembers. They can be purchased online through Friday at eventbrite.com.

Village of South Elgin preschool registration open
Registration is being accepted for the village of South Elgin’s Preschool Pals program for the 2022-23 school year.
Classes for children ages 2 to 4 take place in the Municipal Annex, 1 W. State St., South Elgin.
Parents or guardians are required to provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate and a $40 nonrefundable deposit. Registration must be completed during regular business hours at Village Hall, 10 N. Water St. South Elgin.
