The St. Charles Business Alliance has announced that artist applications for the 2023 St. Charles Fine Art Show are now open.

All interested artists can find the application at www.stcharlesfineartshow.com/artist-information, and must submit it before the deadline of Jan. 31, officials said.

The St. Charles Fine Art Show will take place on Riverside Avenue in downtown St. Charles on May 27 and 28. This event showcases the original, juried work of approximately 100 fine artists in mediums including clay and ceramics, digital art, drawing and illustration, fiber (non-wearable), jewelry, photography, glass, mixed media, oil painting, watercolor painting, acrylic painting, printmaking, sculpture and wood.

All items are exhibited and available for sale during the free, outdoor public event, organizers said.

Artists are also eligible to win cash prizes through artist awards.

The St. Charles Fine Art Show is an exhibition and sale of original artwork. Original art only will be considered in all mediums, organizers said. Prints and reproductions must be limited to 10% of the overall display and must be of original art also on display.

Veterans exhibit remains open in Oswego through Nov. 27

Oswego’s Little White School Museum will have its annual “Remembering our Veterans” special exhibit on display at the museum, 72 Polk St. in Oswego, through Nov. 27.

This is the 16th year the exhibit to honor area veterans has been hosted by the museum.

The museum’s hours are 2 to 6:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays and 4 to 9 p.m. on Mondays. The museum is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and will be closed Nov. 24 and 25 in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Admission to the museum is free, but donations are always gratefully accepted, museum officials said.

The exhibit includes hundreds of rarely-seen artifacts including dozens of vintage uniforms, war souvenirs, photographs and documents selected from the museum’s collections, according to museum officials. Each of the items in the exhibit has a direct connection to Oswego area residents who served from the Civil War through the modern conflicts in the Middle East and Afghanistan. In addition, each year’s exhibit features a Wall of Honor recognizing the service of more than 200 local military personnel.
