A Round Lake Park ex-convict was arrested Wednesday on drugs and weapons charges following an investigation by the Lake County sheriff’s office.

Joshua A. Jackson, 26, was taken into custody following a search of his home in the 500 block of Grandview Drive, the sheriff’s office said.

Police said they found three firearms, including two without serial numbers which are known as “ghost guns,” along with hundreds of rounds of ammunition and two suppressors, which are intended to “silence” gunfire.

Jackson, a reputed street gang member, also had 70 grams of cocaine in his possession that had been packaged for distribution, police said.

The arrest culminated an investigation into Jackson by the sheriff’s office Special Investigations Group and the Round Lake Park police.

“I am grateful our Special Investigations Group investigated and arrested this convicted felon before he had an opportunity to use or sell these firearms,” Sheriff John Idleburg said. “We will continue our efforts to apprehend violent offenders and those who traffic drugs in Lake County.”
