Chicago voters will head to the polls again on April 4 to cast their ballots for mayor and city council in runoff races.

Below are the Chicago Tribune Editorial Board‘s endorsements for the runoff election. See endorsements in the Feb. 28 elections here.

Mayor: Paul Vallas

In our view, Paul Vallas is the candidate best positioned to tackle the city’s existential problem of violent crime, and to do so without regard to where in the city you live. As Vallas has said on the campaign trail, the right to live without fear of attack against person or property should be viewed as an inalienable human right.

City Council

Now, 14 aldermanic seats are at play in the April 4 runoff, with incumbents looking to defend their seats in six of those races. Will the embrace of the status quo on the council continue, or will voters opt for more fresh faces?

Here are our endorsements for aldermanic races in the upcoming runoff, which applies to wards in which no candidate received more than half of the vote in the Feb. 28 election.
