The NRA is hosting an event in Indianapolis on April 14, with Donald Trump, Mike Pence, Governor Eric Holcomb, Jim Jordan, Mike Braun and others. The most important part about this NRA event is that they are not allowing any WEAPONS! The NRA has donated millions upon millions of dollars to every one of these politicians, and none of these politicians will ever do anything about the gun violence. Yet they are afraid for their safety at their own sponsored events. Go figure.
For the majority of Republicans, assault weapons and the Second Amendment are sacred. The lives of innocent people? Not so much.
Ironic, isn’t it, that the the legislature in Kentucky, site of the most recent shooting, at the end of March had made it a crime for any law officer to attempt to enforce any federal gun control laws, if there ever even are any. Like maybe an assault weapons ban? This is becoming the pattern in Republican-controlled states. Preemptively pass laws nullifying federal laws before the laws even exist. You can be sure, however, that there’s one federal law they will eagerly enforce if it ever happens, and that’s if there’s ever one banning abortions nationwide.
It is disgustingly hypocritical that those people who protest the loudest about the government telling them what to do are the same people telling others what they can or cannot do.
Only 8% of the Lake Station registered voters took the time to vote in the last election. That is disgraceful, what type of example are people setting for their children. On April 24th there is a mayoral debate scheduled. Show up, listen and learn what these two candidates hope to accomplish if elected Mayor of Lake Station..
The judge in Trump’s upcoming trial on defamation charges has determined that for the safety and security of jurors, the jury members will remain anonymous, and their names will not be revealed even to the attorneys on either side. This is for a trial on civil charges. What happens when Trump is prosecuted in any or all the several criminal cases he is also facing? Given the way Trump has whipped his worshipers into an absolute frenzy of hate for the legal processes, how will juries ever be seated? Who would want to be a juror in any of these cases when even the prosecutors and the very judges themselves have already been the target of death threats? Trump should be issued a wide-sweeping gag order, and if he violates it, LOCK HIM UP!
We were told to never forget the Holocaust when the second world war ended. Yet today the world continues to sit back and watch Russia bomb Ukrainian citizens, kidnap their children and butcher and rape their elderly. New reports and video just released show Ukrainian troops being castrated and beheaded by Russian forces. They are the same as ISIS terrorists. When will the free world react to these atrocities? Didn’t we learn that dictators will only stop when they are forced to? Apparently all the victims of the Holocaust died in vain. I weep for Ukraine.
Sadly too many politicians today feel that because of their office they can disobey the law and common decency without even trying to hide it.
It’s been a whole decade now since the Voting Rights Act was eliminated by the Supreme Court in 2013, and look at the damage the Republican party has done in those ten years. Tennessee, so much in the news these days, is as good an example as any. The state is pretty evenly split between Democrats and Republicans, but thanks to partisan redrawing of congressional districts (gerrymandering) six of the state’s eight congressional seats are occupied by Republicans. Or need more? Look at Indiana, where seven of the state’s nine seats are held by Republicans, and both legislative chambers are controlled by GOP super-majorities. Okay, Indiana does have more Republicans than Democrats. But not three times as many!
