A $1 million Mega Millions lottery ticket was sold at a gas station in Elgin, according to the Illinois Lottery.

The ticket was purchased prior to the Friday drawing at the Shell station’s Circle K convenience store at 460 S. McLean Blvd.

By matching five winning numbers — 23-27-41-48-51 — the unknown winner took the second largest prize in the game, a Lottery news release said.

The ticket-holder is the third Mega Millions millionaire in Illinois this year, the release said. Another $1 million winning ticket purchased at a 7-Eleven in Evanston in January remains unclaimed.

Winners have one year from the date of the winning draw to come forward and claim their prize.

Friday’s $476 million jackpot ticket was purchsed by someone in New York.
