Cheap Trick is playing Metro to wrap up the music club’s yearlong 40th-anniversary celebrations.

According to an announcement Tuesday, Rockford’s own Cheap Trick will perform July 16. Tickets go on sale to the public 10 a.m. April 28, or ticketbuyers can sign up for the Metro newsletter to access a presale 11 a.m. April 27.

Unlike some longtime bands, Cheap Trick still has its original lineup more or less intact, with current members Rick Nielsen, Robin Zander and Tom Petersson. According to the announcement, the band is a longtime favorite of Metro/smartbar/Gman Tavern founder Joe Shanahan.

7 p.m. July 16 at Metro, 3730 N. Clark St.; tickets $65-$75 (ages 18+) at metrochicago.com / etix.com
