Court records show charges were dropped last month against a Chicago man accused in a fatal East Chicago drug house stabbing.
Yuron “Blue” Robinson, now 46, of Chicago and East Chicago, was charged Nov. 21 in the September 2022 stabbing death of Anthony Tyrone Neal, 58, of East Chicago, records show.
Deputy Prosecutor Christopher Anderson filed to dismiss the case without prejudice, meaning charges could be later refiled. It was granted Aug. 24.
He wrote that “additional investigation” was needed before prosecutors could meet its “burden of proof,” according to court filings.
Authorities were not certain when Neal died, estimating sometime between Sept. 4 to 7, 2022.
Police were called Sept. 7 to a house on the 3800 block of Carey Street where Neal was found dead with a stab wound to the chest.
A witness said she went to get the mail and check on Neal, when a woman who lived there said she hadn’t seen him. When the witness reached in and knocked on the front door, it popped open. Inside, she found Neal, charges state.
Other witnesses told police at least three other people lived there, including two men, “Bam” and “Blue.”
Multiple witnesses told police “Blue,” who had stayed with Neal in his basement for the past week or two was “probably the one who did it,” noting he previously said he had “a lot of murders under his belt.”
They said he had not been in the house for the past few days.
Neal “was known to smoke crack all day,” according to witnesses. He didn’t sell drugs, but he let people do drugs in his house, and allowed some folks to sleep there if they didn’t have anywhere else to go, charges state.
Police learned Robinson’s identity partly through his Facebook account, security footage from a nearby business and a law enforcement website, Illinois Prison Talk, that appeared to show he was convicted of second degree murder in connection with a 2012 Park Ridge, Illinois drug-related strangulation. The website showed Robinson was released in December 2020.
