
The Naperville Park District’s fall calendar includes plenty of Halloween-themed events, hikes and group fitness parties for all ages.
Ghost Stories in the Park … In the Dark: An annual event presented by Summer Place Theatre, local storytellers will tell spooky stories for families with children ages 5 and older at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6; 6 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7; and 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion in downtown Naperville. Knoch Knolls nature walk: A naturalist-led fall hike for adults will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24 at the Knoch Knolls Nature Center, 320 Knoch Knolls Road. Register at www.napervilleparks.org.
Adult Owl Prowl: A naturalist will talk about owls during a walk that will start at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Knoch Knolls Nature Center. Register at www.napervilleparks.org.
Halloween Happening: Free for children 10 and younger, the event will feature Halloween-themed games and activity stations, treat collecting and prizes. It will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at the Riverwalk Grand Pavilion. Family-friendly costumes are encouraged.
Pumpkin Smash: Leftover jack-o-lanterns and pumpkins can be recycled during Pumpkin Smash from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Ron Ory Community Garden Plots, 811 S. West St. The event keeps pumpkins out of landfills while adding nutrients to the soil, park district officials said.
Friday Night Dance Party: Open to adults and teens 15 and older, the party will feature fitness instructors teaching Zumba, Body Jam and Zumba Gold dances from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at the Fort Hill Activity Center, 20 Fort Hill Drive.
