East Dundee seeking actors for Dickens in Dundee
Volunteer actors to take part in Dickens in Dundee’s living window displays are being sought by East Dundee event organizers.
The holiday fest will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, but actors may need to arrive as early as 3:15 p.m. for costumes and makeup, which will be provided by the village, officials said.
All performers will receive a free meal prior to the event’s start.

Elgin, Carpentersville to hold Veterans Day events
Veterans Day ceremonies will be held Friday, Nov. 10, in Elgin and Saturday, Nov. 11, in Carpentersville.
Elgin, in partnership with American Legion Post 57, will honor the nation’s veterans at 11 a.m. in the Heritage Ballroom of the Edward Schock Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way, according to the city’s website.
Parking will be available in the Centre Parking deck on the southwest corner of Symphony Way and Grove Avenue.
The Carpentersville event is set for 9 a.m. Saturday at the Veterans Memorial in Carpenter Park, 275 Maple Ave.
Carpentersville Rotary holding pub crawl Saturday
The Carpentersville Rotary’s Gobble Til You Wobble 2023 Pub Crawl starts at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Bandito Barney’s, 10 N. River St., East Dundee, and ends at the same location at 9 p.m.
Participants who pay $35 will receive a free event T-shirt and snacks at the final bar. The general admission fee is $15.
Participants who visit at least five participating bars, take photos at those spots and post them to Facebook with the hashtag #GobbleTilYouWobble2023 will be entered into a drawing for a $500 prize, according to the Eventbrite posting for the crawl.
Proceeds will go to a Rotary initiative to buy winter coats for local children in need.

Batavia food pantry, clothes closet plans open house
Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry and Clothes Closet will host an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, to show off its new location at 431 N. Raddant Road.
The event is free and open to the community, pantry officials said.
Donation boxes will be available for guests who bring a shelf-stable food items to donate to help “pack the pantry” campaign, officials said.
The Food Pantry and Clothes Closet moved to its new location on Raddant Road in September.
