Triton College is starting the yuletide season, illuminating a series of holiday trees as part of the college’s “Holiday Festival of Trees” drive-through event.
Starting Dec. 8, the public is invited to drive through the main campus entrance in River Grove “and experience the rows of brightly lit trees” and also take selfie or family photos, according to a college news release announcing the holiday event.
Motorists rolling down Circle Drive on the campus are held to a speed limit of 10 m.p.h., the release states.
“Please use caution and watch for pedestrians,” officials request in the release.
Also, in preparation of another season, the college is seeking for volunteers to be trained to help with tax preparation.
In a separate news release, Triton officials are making a call for help with the college’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, which is looking for volunteers to help with the tax assistance program.
Volunteer roles include tax preparer, site greeter and phone operator, according to the release.
Orientation for the program is Dec. 9 and training is set to start in January, the release states. The tax program runs from February to April next year.
“No previous tax experience is needed, and free training and materials are provided. Volunteers can serve an average of five hours per week in the morning and afternoon. The volunteer sites are located throughout Triton College’s district and a minimal stipend is available for tax preparers,” according to the release.
