Elgin police say a juvenile was shot about 2 a.m. Friday in the 200 block of Villa Street.

The male victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to message posted on the Elgin Police Department Facebook page.

No information was provided on what led to the shooting or where it occurred.

The case is being handled by the department’s major investigations division.

A little less than two hours before the shooting, Elgin police also reported on Facebook that shots were fired in the 600 block of Raymond Street. The report came in about 12:20 a.m. and officers were able to confirm a shooting did occur, but no other information was provided.

It is not know if the two cases are related.
