Mill Street Bridge in Montgomery is once again open for traffic.
Montgomery officials in a press release said the bridge officially opened to vehicles and pedestrians on Friday afternoon.
The opening marks the completion of the Mill Street Bridge Improvement Project, village officials said. The rehabilitation project featured three phases of improvements in the downtown Riverside area of the village between River Street and Route 25, according to the release.
The project’s final phase included installing new lighting features across the bridge, officials said. Frank Marshall Electric of Aurora completed installation and testing a few days ago, and the contractor removed the scaffolding in preparation for the reopening of the bridge, according to the release.
Those traveling along Route 25 or through Montgomery will notice the colored lighting features on the bridge, officials said. The custom arched lighting is designed to highlight the iconic bridge, according to village officials.
The Mill Street Bridge Improvement Project also included bridge deck patching, parapet wall repairs, expansion joint repair, painting and installation of safety railings on the south, according to the release.
No further bridge closures will be required as the project is now complete, officials said.
“The village would like to thank our many contractors assisting the project and the community for their patience as we rehabilitated this iconic and historic Montgomery bridge,” Montgomery officials said in the release.
