Chicago woman found fatally shot inside a car in Orland Park

A 28-year-old woman from Chicago was found fatally shot early Wednesday morning in a car in Orland Park, police said.

Orland Park police identified the woman as Mechellea Williams.

Officers responded to shots fired call at 12:03 a.m. in the 170th block of Redbud Lane and found Williams inside a vehicle, police said.

The shooter or shooters ran from the area following the shooting, police said.

Williams received medical attention but died as a result of her injuries, police said.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
