
Carpentersville’s annual Fall Fest this weekend in Carpenter Park
The village of Carpentersville’s Fall Fest will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, in Carpenter Park, 275 Maple Ave.
Two bands are scheduled to perform Friday night and there will be an axe-throwing area set up. Food and beverages will be available from 13 vendors both days, according to the village website.
Saturday activities include a craft show, petting zoo, axe throwing, mobile video gambling, a kids’ zone and live performances by five bands.

West Dundee Fire Department holding open house Saturday
The West Dundee Fire Department is hosting an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Station 2, 100 Carrington Drive.
The event will feature truck and ambulance tours, a bounce house, raffles and giveaways, according to the event’s Facebook page.

Friends of the Fox River to hold activities for ‘River Day’
Friends of the Fox River will be holding various events along the river and throughout the Fox Valley on Saturday, Sept. 21, in recognition of “It’s Our River Day.”
Activities planned will celebrate, protect and restore the health of the Fox River, according to the Friends website. The nonprofit says the gathering is the year’s largest demonstration of Fox River watershed-wide protective and celebratory action.

ESO and Mariachi Herencia de México perform together at ECC
For the first time, the Elgin Symphony Orchestra will share a stage with Mariachi Herencia de México in a concert starting at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, in the Arts Center at Building H on the Elgin Community College campus, 1700 Spartan Drive.
The event celebrates ECC’s 75th anniversary and the ECC Arts Center’s 30th anniversary, according to the college’s website. Mariachi Herencia de México is a two-time Latin Grammy-nominated band that has released five albums.

Geneva’s annual Autumn Fair being held at Peck Farm Park
The Geneva Park District Foundation’s annual Autumn Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Peck Farm Park, 4038 Kaneville Road in Geneva.
Pony rides, family activities, children’s games, crafts, a wildlife presentation by Flying Fox Conservation Fund and musical entertainment from Liz Berg will be featured. There also will be a petting zoo and pumpkins and mums for sale, according to a news release.
Dozens of prizes will be raffled off during the event, with tickets available for $5 each or five for $20 at the event or purchased in advance at Sunset Community Center, Peck Farm Park Interpretive Center and the Stephen D. Persinger Recreation Center. Winners do no need to be present to win, the release said.
Proceeds from the free event will benefit special projects supported by the Geneva Park District Foundation.
