Neighbors helped a Naperville family escape a Monday morning house fire that left their home uninhabitable, fire officials said.
The Naperville Fire Department was alerted about 10:35 a.m. to the blaze in the 100 block of Locust Court, not far from River Road and Ogden Avenue. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire at the rear of the residence, a news release said.
Initially neighbors feared the home’s occupants could not get out but they helped them evacuate, the release said. Firefighters rescued one of the family’s two dogs.
No one was injured in the fire, which took about 45 minutes to extinguish and caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, mostly to the roof and attached garage, the release said. Three adults, two children and two dogs were displaced.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
