A male cyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash on the city’s Southwest Side early Sunday morning, Chicago police said.

At 1:20 a.m. Sunday, a driver in a red SUV was heading eastbound near the 6300 block of South Kedzie Avenue when he ignored a traffic signal and struck the man riding a bicycle and collided with a silver car going southbound on a green light, police said.

The male bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 60-year-old woman who was in the the silver car was treated at the scene, but a 22-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the red SUV, was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition.

The male driver of the red SUV fled on foot before police arrived, police said.
