A 10-year-old boy was killed and a teenager critically injured in an early Monday morning fire in the Washington Heights neighborhood, according to Chicago police.
Chicago police and fire officials responded to the blaze just before 3:30 a.m. in the 10400 block of South Green Street.
The boy was transported to Roseland Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. An 18-year-old man, meanwhile, was also found inside the home. He was taken to Little Company of Mary Medical Center in critical condition.
Police said an adult man and woman were able to escape uninjured.
The Chicago Fire Department is investigating the fire.
